The book explores the extraordinary creativity that has become possible in the digital age with the advanced methods of computer-assisted production known as digital fabrication.

The ground-breaking works of more than 80 international artists, architects and designers are featured, such as Ron Arad, Barry X Ball, Zaha Hadid, Stephen Jones, Anish Kapoor, Allan McCollum, Marc Newson and Roxy Paine.

Out of Hand – which was published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, and which is on view now until July 2014 – is organised conceptually around six themes: Modeling Nature, New Geometries, Rebooting Revivals, Pattern as Structure, Remixing the Figure and Processuality.

Depicting some of the most compelling creations from over the past 10 years – ranging from sculpture and furniture to fashion and transport – Out of Hand showcases an explosive and unprecedented scope of artistic expression covering everything from sculptural fantasy to functional beauty and conceptual idiosyncrasy.
