The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 is in full swing. In order to support up-and-coming talents in the competition, Red Dot offers 50 free registrations for young designers. The Red Dot Young Professionals Application Day is on 11 December 2013 and career-starters have 24 hours to apply for one of the free registrations – starting at midnight in the respective time zone.

The worldwide renowned award enables young professionals to compete with successful designers from all over the world in the Red Dot Award: Product Design. It aims at providing creative young professionals with a successful start into the world of design and to facilitate new talents’ access to the industry, as first-time employees can compete with established and well-known product designers and international manufacturers.

Eligible applicants include graduates of design or architecture courses who have obtained their academic qualifications within the past five years, such as Bernhard Elsässer. Elsässer was the second young professional in the history of the Red Dot who was able to secure the Red Dot: Best of the Best with his product design.

Elsässer’s ‘The Attitude of the Definite – the Square’ led to an innovative technical process that lends porcelain vessels a new appearance. “The porcelain vase ‘The Attitude of the Definite – the Square’ is the result of a highly creative design process,” commented one of the jury members.

“The language of form of this vase impresses with its plasticity. The way the textile origin remains visible, creating distinctive structures, is also fascinating. The vase gives proof of how an extended, evolutionary design understanding can lead to the emergence of something truly novel.”

The Red Dot Young Professionals Application Day is an ideal career starter because it includes, among other things, extensive publicity and an exhibition of the prize-winning product in the Red Dot Design Museum.
