The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) are calling for entries for their annual International Design Excellence Awards® (IDEA) competition for 2013.

The IDEA recognise design excellence in product design, sustainable design, interaction design, packaging, design strategy, design research and concept design. Designers, design students and businesses developing products worldwide can compete.

The Henry Ford museum in Michigan will again house the award winners in its permanent collection – now for the fourth year running.

Founded in 1980 by the IDSA, the IDEA program is designed to foster greater understanding in the global  business community and the public about the positive impact of industrial design on the quality of life and the global economy.

The IDSA represents professionals in product design, interaction design, human factors, ergonomics, design research, design management, universal design and related design fields.

The organisation has more than 3000 members in 29 professional chapters in the United States and internationally.

We feature the 2012 IDEA in Curve Issue 41 and one of the many 2012 Gold IDEA award winners features on the front cover of Curve Issue 41, the Beats Mixr headphones, by Ammunition design group, for Beats by Dr. Dre.
