The Congress will bring together a unified voice of designers, to advance the mission of the IDA to engage with government leaders, INGOs and businesses.

Established in 2005, the IDA is a strategic venture between Icsid, Icograda and IFI - international organisations representing industrial designers, graphic designers and interior designers.

Istanbul was unanimously selected at the 2013 host city. Istanbul Technical University led the successful bid.

“With more than 3000 years of history, Istanbul is a crossroad for culture, finance and industry,” said Mark Breitenberg, Icsid President.

“Istanbul is a living design lab,” said Dr Alpay Er, head of the department of industrial product design at ITU and leader of the bid.

Istanbul has for many years been a meeting place for Eastern and Western styles and trends.

It is now experiencing a design renaissance, with increasing internationalism, and the rapid expansion and diversification of design education.
