With over 300 design events and initiatives, the Finnish capital will be the place to visit in 2012. The celebrations start on New Year’s Eve in Helsinki, in the white and wintry streets of the city.

Finland has a strong design heritage and the design precincts of Helsinki with their museums, galleries and design studios will be the perfect place to celebrate design.

Helsinki Design is home to many well-known global brands, such as Nokia, Kone and Marimekko and famous architects and designers such as Eliel Saarinen and Alvar Aalto, and the University of Art and Design is Helsinki’s world famous Finnish school of design.

The annual Helsinki Design Week will run in September, and is one of the many design events not to missed next year.
