Chris McNicholl designed the interactive park bench or TweetingSeat to explore and research the potential for connecting physical and digital communities.
People interact with the TweetingSeat on a physical and digital level.
When a person sits on the seat, it uploads an image from two cameras to a Twitter feed. One camera is positioned on the seat looking at the surrounding space. The other is positioned nearby to look at the people who use it.
“The way in which the bench should be used has purposely been left open, allowing people and communities to build their own relationship with it,” says Mc Nicholl.
The aesthetic features of the seat distinguish it from traditional park benches, while blending in to the natural park environment.
